763. The Perfectionista

Queen Virgo sees people struggle every day to be more organized and get things right.

She tries hard to educate them, but frankly, she’s tired.  Here are some differences she’s noted:

The Rest of the World:   Eats over the sink if company will be coming over
Queen Virgo:  Eats over the sink always

World:  Sharpens pencils if/ when they need it
QV:  Sharpens pencils daily
World: Makes mistakes
QV:  Points out other people’s mistakes
World:  Writes illegibly
QV:   Types neatly on the computer, then spellchecks, grammar-checks, proofreads, cross-references, and edits.  Twice.

World:  Forgets grocery list at home
QV:  Forgets grocery list at home, but has back-up laminated grocery list and dry erase marker in the glove compartment

World:  Likes to watch TV
QV:  Likes to imagine better dialogue she could write for so-called “reality” shows
World:  Sees “deadline” as a helpful suggestion, not an absolute
QV:  Sees the word “dead” in deadline (take it for what you will)

World:  Shrugs and walks out of a room if it is too messy
QV:  Starts shaking, breaking out in cold sweat if a room is too messy; then spends next three hours fixing it (later wonders why she is not invited back to her friends’ houses for dinner)

World: Wonders how Virgos can stand themselves
QV:   Wonders how anyone can stand to NOT be Virgo

As you can see, being a Virgo (a.k.a. “Perfectionista”) is hard work.  Queen Virgo is going to take the rest of the day off.  If you need her, you can find her alphabetizing her wine collection.  Again.

  1. Do you need help alphabetizing your vino collection? Or does this task have to be done by only you?

    1. Of course I need help! And sometimes I might just have to have a wine tasting, you know, to make sure none of it has spoiled........

  2. I try for that level of organization but the Leo in me is too prideful to ask for help getting started.

    1. I'm a Leo but I'd welcome help any time! (Mama Leo is too tired to be prideful any more.) Come on over and fix my rooms MOV! Your design eye is killer and I could use it! I promise you'd be invited back. :-)

  6. I actually liked it when you cleaned that room. I wondered where you were for three hours and when my house is a mess again, I am definitely inviting you back!

  7. Well I don't try to clean the room, but I do redecorate every house or room I walk into, and I constantly design clothes in my head and try to wonder why so many people don't have friends. Because no true friend would let their friend leave the house looking like that.

    1. oh, you are my long-lost twin. I totally do this, too. I will see someone in too-tight black stretchy pants, and I will think, "The saleslady that sold you those pants lied when she said they looked good," or I will wonder if they had put on 15 pounds since they bought the pants.

Why does no one ask my opinion? because I WILL give it to them! I don't charge (that much) for it!

  8. I think perfectionism has two sides. Some of us slobs see all that stuff and just give up. I wouldn't let a hobo in my house.

    1. hmmmmmmmmm. I know what you mean.

Here is my tip (get ready for unsolicited advice):
EMPTY THE ROOM. Seriously. Empty. Then, bring back the items that you just love. Only things you love! The rest has to go.

If you accidentally-on-purpose had to throw out a few things belonging to your spouse, well, that is the price of being a Perfectionista. He or she will get over it. (Or it will be less stuff to divide up when he/ she demands a divorce.)

      You're welcome. :)

  9. Hmmm...I am quite like Q.V. (even though I'm not a Virgo!) except I wuld just kinda leave a messy room alone instead of fuss over it!x

    1. Depends on if the host at that dinner party keeps re-filling my wine glass. Then I might be in too good a mood to notice.........

  10. I have a dash of Virgo in me (only a dash) She comes out every so often. No rhyme or reason to when or why she comes out. It is like my body is invaded for a day. But mostly, I have no perfectionism in me what so ever. You still like me though? Right??? I mean, opposites attract...Right? ;)

    Great post!

  11. Hi, MOV!

I'm a Leo. I do like for things to be clean and organized; however, once I've cleaned that's it until I get ready to clean again; what ever is out of place can stay out of place until the next cleaning day.

The domestic scene isn't my bag anyway. I want someone to cook and cater to me -lol!

When you write a comment, it makes me feel like I won the lottery or at the very least like I ate an ice-cream sundae. (This has nothing to do with the fact that I did just eat an ice-cream sundae.)
