“Mommy, I have a new joke for you!” Short squeals.
“Okay, great! Let’s hear it,” I smile.
“Knock knock….” he begins.
“Who’s there?” I say dutifully.
(Very long pause. Too long.)
“Who’s there?” I say again, prodding helpfully.
“Uh, wait….. I don’t know this one.” Now he glares at me. Apparently, I have told him the wrong joke.
